‘The first article that passed was a nonbinding resolution that calls on town officials to refrain from using town funds to enforce federal immigration law to the extent that is permissible by law, unless presented with a criminal warrant or other evidence of probable cause.
Alison Dwyer, a member of Indivisible Outer Cape, petitioned for the article and said that Provincetown’s history of inclusion was a beacon.
“This article is about our town, our community, our values,” she said. Dennis, Brewster, Eastham and Wellfleet have all passed the Safe Communities Act, Dwyer said, and Truro and Orleans are considering it. She also noted the town is not petitioning for sanctuary status.’
